At very early morning press conference, which provided challenges for local media to attend, considering the LA Metro traffic, the LA Grand Prix presser shone above many that I have attended.

The reason? Emcee Carrie Tollefson got behind the normal “How are you feeling” questions and posed some strong questions, and the athletes were ready to answer.

Mondo Duplantis talked about how he likes the sport, and his parents, Helena and Greg, who coach him, are parents and coaches. Sam Kendricks provided another example of why he was missed in the sport-an articulate voice and a positive voice on the sport. Sha’Carri provided another example of what she could be for the sport with good focus, and Christian Coleman is learning how to manage his conversations with the media. Ajee Wilson, always a good interview, has been around for ten years now at this level, and Brooke Andersen handled the presser well.

Listen to this presser; it is a lot of fun and shows, once again, that we have tremendous opportunities in our elite sport.
